4 Weeks Out
- Declutter and donate items you don't need
- Research and book a moving company
- Order moving supplies (boxes, tape, bubble wrap)
- Start packing non-essential items (seasonal decor, books)
2 Weeks Out
- Schedule utility transfers (disconnect old, connect new)
- Submit change of address to USPS
- Plan meals to use up perishable food
- Pack most of your belongings, leaving only essentials
1 Week Out
- Confirm details with the moving company
- Pack an 'Essentials Box' (toiletries, clothes, important docs)
- Clean the old home as you pack
- Defrost the freezer if taking it with you
Moving Day
- Do a final walkthrough of the old home
- Verify the movers' inventory list
- Direct movers at the new home
- Unpack the essentials box first
